Club Nautique has locations in Alameda and in Sausalito. They offer well mainatained boats near the bay entrance. Very nice lessons. They are expensive. Offers US Sailing certification.
Redwood City Spinnaker
Very convinient for first time lessons if you are living south of San Francisco. Offers ASA certification.
Pacific Yachting & Sailing
Santa Cruz club. We enjoyed chartering a few boats. Nice people, good access. Best from exploring Monterey Bay area. Benetau 46 "Zazen" is a must.
After Guard Sailing Academy
Oakland school with really small place and donated boats, but very nice people. They train instructors.
South Beach Marina
A good place to dock in San Francisco located near the Bay Bridge. You can stay their at the guest dock for as little as $10 to get some food. Guest pickup is free (<30 minutes)
Horizon
Sausalito Restaurant. You can dock to it if the dock in good condition. Call them and check first.
